David Burkett founded the firm in 1990, after spending a number of years at Johnson & Swanson in Dallas, Texas and the Stanislaw Ashbaugh firm in Seattle, Washington.

Lee Burdette was a partner at Popkin & Stern before he moved to Seattle in 1988. He met David Burkett at Stanislaw Ashbaugh. Shortly after David formed his own firm, Lee joined in and they formed Burkett & Burdette in 1991.

The firm practices mainly in the following areas: appellate, business counseling and litigation, construction, employment litigation, insurance coverage, medical malpractice, product liability and other serious personal injury cases.
